DJ Mr. Pay Attention
Mr. Pay Attention also known as “Stephon Pettigrew”, 29, born in New York NY; had a passion for dope blends and mixes since he can remember. His mother was big on House Music and Rap. She always had a new Hip-hop mixtape or a House tape and Stephon was always fascinated with the blends of the House Music and the cutting and scratching of the Hip Hop mixtapes. He always wanted his own equipment but could never afford it. At the age of 16, his best friend had gotten a pair of Technic turntables and when he turned 19 his best friend joined the Air force and left him his Turntables. Stephon constantly went to “Rock n Soul”, located near Madison Square Garden in NYC, to purchase new vinyl. He then met a DJ by the name of Parris; Parris was from London England and he had big dreams. He was DJ’ing all over Manhattan’s Lower East Side and he let Stephon tag along. Working with Parris gave Stephon the opportunity to DJ in front of large crowds. While working with Parris they DJ’d at fashion shows, charity events, and at various Bars & Clubs through out the city. Stephon was going through a lot in his personal life and he felt that he needed a change. He relocated to Baltimore MD where he fell in love with “Baltimore Club Music”. As the music business started to change, Stephon wanted to change with it. He bought the Tracktor scratch for his desktop and started making some Baltimore House CD’s. His House CD’s were sold in mom & popshops in Baltimore, Philadelphia, DC, and South Jersey. This landed Stephon his own Internet radio show on WTNR Radio where he played nothing but Baltimore House music during his two-hour show. After parting ways with WTNR Radio after one year, Stephon wanted to switch it up again. With DJ’s such as DJ Drama and DJ Scream ruling the mixtape game; he wanted to start hosting artist mixtapes and he wanted people to “Pay Attention” to these up and coming artist and to his new movement. He started going by the name “Mr. Pay Attention” and with his new brand he began to collaborate with various artist and entertainers for his mixtape series. Working with the likes of Pinky (The Porn Star), Vanessa Monet (Porn Star), Rock City (Konlive/Interscope), Masspike Miles (Maybach Music Group), Nina B (Ravenal Records), C.O.M.P. (former Def Jam artist). Mr. Pay Attention is now affiliated with the Coast 2 Coast Mixtape DJs and has received a combined total of over 200,000 downloads of all of his mixtapes and he is ready to quadruple that in months to come, so please Pay Attention!!!
